On November 9, 2024, the Statistics Department of the Faculty of Science and Data Analytics (FSAD) ITS held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) activity with the theme Mapping Community Needs. The event, which took place at the Swiss Belinn Manyar Hotel in Surabaya, presented the Head of the East Java Province BPS, Zulkipli, and the Director of Price Statistics of the BPS RI, Windhiarso Putranto, as speakers.
In his material, Zulkipli explained the Mapping of East Java BPS Needs against the Competence of ITS Statistics Alumni, as well as the importance of collaboration between academics and BPS in producing relevant and accurate data for the needs of development and community welfare.
He emphasized that BPS always opens up opportunities for synergy with the world of education to improve the quality of statistical data, and invites campuses to play an active role in supporting impactful and meaningful statistics.
Meanwhile, Windhiarso Putranto from BPS RI, presented material with the theme "The Role of Campuses in Supporting Meaningful Statistics and Impactful Statistics." In his presentation, he outlined the important contribution of the academic world, especially ITS, in encouraging data-based research that is in accordance with the needs of society.
Through this activity, the Central Statistics Agency hopes to establish closer synergy with the world of education to support the formation of a data system that is not only meaningful, but also able to bring positive impacts to the wider community.
