As an effort to ground GDP/GRDP with a new method, Chain Volume Measurement (CVM), BPS East Java Province today (10/12) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on CVM Socialization and Discussion of Agency Data Needs. The event, which was attended by 91 participants representing agencies, corporations, and academics, was held in the BPS Hall of East Java Province. The material in this event was delivered by the Coordinator of the Regional Balance and Statistical Analysis Team (Nerwilis), Nurul Andriana.
Changes in the base year of GRDP are an important aspect considering the changes in the economic structure influenced by globalization, digitalization, and sectoral transformation. The use of the CVM method, in accordance with the recommendations of the United Nations Statistical Committee (UNSC), will produce indicators that are up to date, reliable, accurate, and eliminate the element of subjectivity in selecting the base year.
In compiling accurate GDP/GRDP, such quality data is needed. By strengthening the contribution and collaboration of sectoral statistics, the implementation of CVM GDP/GRDP can be carried out.
