Abstract

Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) in Jawa Timur in 2014 amounted to 70.36 on a scale of 0 to 100, this figure increased by 11.04 points compared to the figure IDI Jawa Timur in 2013 amounted to 59.32. Performance Democracy in Jawa Timur has been in the category of "moderate". The level of democracy are grouped into three categories, namely "good" (index> 80), "moderate" (index 60-80), and "bad" (index <60).

IDI rise in Jawa Timur from 2013-2014 are affected by changes in three aspects of democracy which measured the Civil Liberties (Civil Liberty), which rose 10.25 points (from 71.37 into 81.62), Political Rights (Political Rights) are rose 20.86 points (from 35.43 into 56.29, and institutions Democracy (Institution of Democracy), which decreased by 3.56 points (from 82.10 into 78.54).

IDI data collection methodology consists of four sources of data: (1) review local newspapers, (2) review of documents (legislation, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.
