Abstract

  • In September 2019 East Java experienced a deflation of 0.07 percent. The whole city is experiencing deflation. The highest deflation was in Jember which reached 0.29 percent, while the lowest deflation was in Surabaya at 0.02 percent.
  • Of the seven expenditure groups, five groups experienced inflation and two groups experienced deflation. The group experiencing the highest inflation was the Clothing group of 0.68 percent, while the group experiencing the highest deflation was the Foodstuffs group of 1.11 percent.
  • The main commodities that contributed the most to deflation in East Java in September 2019 were purebred chicken, shallots, and broiler eggs. Whereas the commodities that contributed the most to inflation were the costs of academies / colleges, gold jewelery, and rice.
  • The inflation rate of the East Java calendar year in September 2019 reached 1.38 percent, while the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2019 against September 2018) reached 2.45 percent.
  • In September 2019 the core group experienced inflation of 0.27 percent, the government-regulated component experienced a deflation of 0.04 percent, and the volatile component experienced deflation of 1.27 percent.
