The combined inflation of eight East Java cities in August 2022 was 0.09 percent

Abstract

Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, one city experienced inflation and the other seven experienced deflation. Inflation occurred in Surabaya City by 0.26 percent, while the deepest deflation occurred in Sumenep Regency at 1.13 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Kediri City at 0.01 percent.
Inflation occurred due to a general increase in prices, as indicated by the increase in most indexes of the expenditure group. Of the eleven expenditure groups, eight groups experienced inflation and the other three groups experienced deflation. The expenditure group that experienced the highest inflation was the education group at 4.04 percent, followed by the food and beverage/restaurant supply group at 0.71 percent, the clothing and footwear group at 0.49 percent, the personal care and other services group at 0.44 percent, the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.43 percent, the transportation group by 0.28 percent, the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 0.24 percent, and the health group by 0.15 percent. The group experiencing the deepest deflation was the food, beverage and tobacco group at 1.72 percent, followed by the recreation, sports and culture group at 0.16 percent and the information, communication and services group at 0.04 percent.
The inflation rate for the calendar year August 2022 was 4.05 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2022 against August 2021) was recorded at 5.20 percent.
