Abstract

  • The Fishermen's Exchange Rate (NTN) is a comparison of the price index received by fishermen (It) to the price index paid by fishermen (Ib).
  • NTN is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of fishermen. NTN also shows the terms of trade of capture fisheries products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • The East Java Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN) for March 2023 rose 0.08 percent from 101.63 in February 2023 to 101.71 in March 2023.
  • The development of NTN in March 2023 against December 2022 (calendar year) fell by 0.78 percent. The development of NTN in March 2023 against March 2022 (year on year) fell by 1.56 percent.
  • Of the six provinces on Java Island that carried out NTN calculations in March 2023, three provinces experienced an increase in NTN, and three provinces experienced a decrease in NTN. DKI Jakarta Province experienced an increase of 0.92 percent, Central Java Province rose 0.71 percent, and East Java Province increased 0.08 percent. Those that experienced a decrease in NTN were West Java Province which decreased by 0.39 percent, Banten Province decreased by 0.77 percent, and DI Yogyakarta Province which experienced a decrease of 0.92 percent.
  • In January 2023 the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) in East Java rose by 0.42 percent, as did the Production Cost Index and Additional Capital Goods (BPPBM) which increased by 0.10 percent.
