The Jawa Timur Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) for June 2023 rose 0.36 percent

Abstract

  • Farmers Terms of Trade (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • The East Java Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) for June 2023 rose 0.36 percent from 107.39 to 107.78. The increase in FTT was due to the price index received by farmers (It) which increased by 0.63 percent higher than the price index paid by farmers (Ib) which increased by 0.27 percent.
  • In June 2023, two agricultural sub-sectors experienced an increase in NTP and three other sub-sectors experienced a decrease in NTP. The sub-sector that experienced the highest increase in NTP was the Horticulture sub-sector by 2.40 percent from 117.78 to 120.60, followed by the Livestock sub-sector by 1.50 percent from 103.43 to 104.97. While the sub-sector that experienced the highest decrease in NTP was the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.65 percent from 99.70 to 99.05, followed by the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.43 percent from 108.30 to 107.83, and the People's Plantation Plants sub-sector by 0. 11 percent from 101.04 to 100.93.
  • Of the five provinces on Java Island that carried out NTP calculations in June 2023, all of them experienced an increase in NTP with the highest increase in Banten Province at 0.85 percent, followed by Central Java at 0.67 percent, West Java at 0.54 percent, Java East by 0.36 percent, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta by 0.19 percent.
