Combined Month to Month (m-to-m) inflation for eight East Java cities in July 2023 of 0.15 percent

Abstract

The combined year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation for eight cities in July 2023 was 4.11 percent. The combined month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate for the 8 cities in July 2023 was 0.15 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) ) of 116.08.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 3.38 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 3.28 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 2.29 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group of 3.15 percent; the health group by 3.97 percent; transportation group by 9.20 percent; recreation, sport and culture group by 1.66 percent; the education group by 5.20 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 5.09 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 4.85 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.04 percent.

At the city level, the highest y-on-y July 2023 inflation occurred in Surabaya at 4.46 percent with a CPI of 116.60 and the lowest occurred in Madiun at 2.71 percent with a CPI of 113.85.

The inflation rate y-on-y in July 2023 for the energy component was 12.52 percent, on a m-to-m basis, inflation was 0.03 percent.

The July 2023 y-on-y inflation rate for the food component was 2.22 percent, with a m-to-m inflation rate of 0.03 percent.
