Percentage of Poor Population in March 2024 dropped to 9.79 percent

Abstract

The percentage of people living in poverty in March 2024 was 9.79 percent, down 0.56 percentage points compared to March 2023.
The number of poor people in March 2024 was 3.983 million people, down 0.206 million people compared to March 2023.
The percentage of urban poor people in March 2023 was 7.50 percent, down to 7.12 percent in March 2024. Meanwhile, the percentage of rural poor people in March 2023 was 13.98 percent, down to 13.30 percent in March 2024.
Compared to March 2023, the number of urban poor people in March 2024 fell by 61 thousand people (from 1.704 million people in March 2023 to 1.643 million people in March 2024). Meanwhile, in the same period, the number of poor rural residents also decreased by 145 thousand people (from 2.485 million people in March 2023 to 2.340 million people in March 2024).
The Poverty Line in March 2024 was recorded at IDR 536,122/capita/month with the composition of the Food Poverty Line of IDR 408,011 (76.10 percent) and the Non-Food Poverty Line of IDR 128,111 (23.90 percent).
In March 2024, on average, poor households in Jawa Timur Province had 4.24 household members. Thus, the average Poverty Line per poor household was IDR 2,273,157/poor household/month.
