August 2024, Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Jawa Timur is 4.19 percent

The total workforce in August 2024 was 24.38 million people, an increase of around 513 thousand people compared to August 2023. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was 73.45 percent, an increase of 0.89 percentage points compared to the TPAK in August 2023.

The working population is 23.36 million people or an increase of 657.93 thousand people compared to August 2023. The Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sectors experienced the largest increase in the number of workers, namely an increase of 200.95 thousand people. The majority of main employment sectors experienced an increase in labor absorption, except for the Other Services Sector and the Information and Communication Sector.

A total of 9.00 million people (38.51 percent) worked in formal activities, an increase of 1.62 percentage points compared to August 2023.

The proportion of full-time workers decreased by 0.88 percentage points. However, the number of full-time workers increased by around 238.16 thousand people compared to August 2023 to 15.50 million people.

The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2024 was 4.19 percent or down 0.69 percentage points compared to August 2023.

Vocational High School (SMK) graduates still have the highest TPT in East Java, namely 6.81 percent, followed by High School (SMA) graduates who have a TPT of 6.69 percent and DIV/S1/S2/S3 graduates with a TPT of 5. 33 percent.
