Trial of SNAPWANGI Application as a supporting economic database

Tuesday (12/11), Ahead of the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census (SE), the East Java Province BPS held a trial of the innovative application SNAPWANGI (Scrapping Google Maps Banyuwangi) in the IPDS room on the 2nd floor of the East Java Province BPS. This activity was attended by representatives from BPS Regency/City throughout East Java and aims to strengthen the accuracy of the economic database through the use of data scraping technology.

This trial event was opened by Hadi Suroso, an Expert Statistician at BPS East Java, who said that the SNAPWANGI application is expected to help the data collection process faster and more accurately with the support of technology from Google Maps.

The Head of BPS East Java Province, Zulkipli, was also present and directly reviewed the SNAPWANGI trial process. He expressed his appreciation for the innovation carried out to support SE 2026.

During the trial, participants from BPS Regency/City had the opportunity to explore the features of SNAPWANGI and discuss the operational techniques and potential development of this application. With the SNAPWANGI application, BPS East Java is optimistic that it can improve the quality of economic data that is the basis for formulating regional economic policies and analysis, for the success of the 2026 Economic Census.
