January 2020, East Java Inflation is 0.50 percent

Abstract

  • In January 2020 East Java experienced inflation of 0.50 percent. Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, all experienced inflation. The highest inflation in Sumenep was 0.84 percent and the lowest in Madiun was 0.35 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by an increase in most of the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.57 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 1.03 percent, the group household appliances, equipment, and routine maintenance by 0.15 percent, the health group by 0.50 percent, the education group by 0.01 percent, the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.17 percent, and the personal care and services group the other 0.76 percent. While the groups experiencing deflation are the clothing and footwear group by 0.08 percent, the transportation group by 0.93 percent, the information, communication and financial services group by 0.03 percent, and the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.05 percent.
  • The January 2020 calendar year inflation rate is 0.50 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2020 against January 2019) is 2.02 percent.
