January 2022 East Java Inflation of 0.46 percent

Abstract

Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, all of them experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Malang City at 0.52 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Sumenep Regency at 0.24 percent.
Inflation occurred due to a fairly high price increase, as indicated by the increase in most indexes of the expenditure group. Of the eleven expenditure groups, nine groups experienced inflation and the other two groups experienced deflation. The expenditure group that experienced the highest inflation was the food, beverage and tobacco group at 1.24 percent, followed by the personal care and other services group at 0.53 percent, the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group at 0.45 percent, the housing group, water, electricity, and household fuel by 0.40 percent, the education group by 0.29 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.23 percent, the food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.22 percent, the health by 0.11 percent, clothing and footwear by 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced deflation was the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.18 percent and transportation group by 0.09 percent.
The inflation rate for the calendar year January 2022 was 0.46 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2022 against January 2021) was recorded at 2.60 percent.
