• In May 2020 East Java experienced inflation of 0.18 percent. Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, six cities experienced inflation and two cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation in Malang was 0.27 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Kediri by 0.19 percent.
• Inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure group index, namely: clothing and footwear by 0.14 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.01 percent, the equipment group, household appliances and routine maintenance by 0.16 percent, health group by 0.18 percent, transportation group by 1.50 percent, and food and beverage / restaurant provision by 0.09 percent. The deflation group was food, beverage and tobacco by 0.13 percent, the information, communication and financial services group by 0.01 percent, the recreation, sports and cultural group by 0.05 percent, and the personal care and other services 0.24
percent. While the education group did not change.
• The May 2020 calendar year inflation rate is 0.86 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2020 against May 2019) is 1.83 percent.
