Abstract

  • The total workforce in August 2021 was 22.32 million people, an increase of 55.03 thousand people compared to August 2020 and an increase of 141.37 thousand people compared to February 2021. However, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) in August 2021 decreased by 0.33 percentage points compared to the August 2020 TPAK.
  • The August 2021 Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) was 5.74 percent, down 0.1 percentage point compared to August 2020, but up 0.57 percentage point compared to February 2021.
  • The working population is 21.04 million people, an increase of 74.78 thousand people from August 2020. The three jobs that experienced the largest percentage increase were the Education Services Sector (0.54 percent point), Wholesale and Retail Trade Sector (0.52 percent). percent point) and the Manufacturing Industry Sector (0.50 percent point). Meanwhile, the sectors that experienced the biggest decline were the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (1.33 percentage points).
  • A total of 7.86 million people (37.36 percent) work in formal activities, an increase of 1.00 percentage point compared to August 2020.
  • The percentage of underemployed decreased by 1.52 percentage points, while the percentage of part-time workers increased by 1.56 percentage points compared to August 2020.
  • There are 3.36 million people (10.52 percent of the working age population) affected by COVID-19. Consists of unemployment due to COVID-19 (248.05 thousand people), Non-Work Force (BAK) due to COVID-19 (88.53 thousand people), temporarily not working due to COVID-19 (240.35 thousand people), and residents workers who experienced reduced working hours due to COVID-19 (2.78 million people).
