Abstract
In
March 2024, the level of expenditure inequality among the East Java population
as measured by the Gini Ratio will be 0.372. This figure is down 0.015 points
when compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2023 which was 0.387. The Gini Ratio
in urban areas in March 2024 was recorded at 0.387, down 0.017 points compared
to the Gini Ratio in March 2023 which was 0.404. The Gini Ratio in rural areas
in March 2024 was recorded at 0.325, down 0.012 points compared to the Gini
Ratio in March 2023 which was 0.337. Based on the World Bank's measure of
inequality, the distribution of expenditure among the bottom 40 percent is
18.69 percent. This means that population expenditure in March 2024 will be in
the low inequality level category. If broken down by region, in urban areas the
figure was recorded at 18.03 percent, which means it is classified as low
inequality. Meanwhile, for rural areas, the figure was recorded at 20.62
percent, which means it is classified as low inequality.
