Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib). NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs. The East Java Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) in July 2024 rose 1.26 percent from 111.03 to 112.43. The increase in NTP was caused by the price index received by farmers (It) increasing by 0.98 percent, while the price index paid by farmers (Ib) decreased by 0.27 percent. In July 2024, four agricultural subsectors experienced an increase in NTP and one other subsector experienced a decrease in NTP. The subsector that experienced the highest increase in NTP was the Food Crops subsector by 2.49 percent from 109.49 to 112.21, followed by the Community Plantation Crops subsector by 0.95 percent from 110.16 to 111.20, the Fisheries subsector by 0.65 percent from 93.43 to 94.04, and the Horticulture subsector by 0.44 percent from 131.38 to 131.95. Meanwhile, the only subsector that experienced a decrease in NTP was the Livestock subsector by 1.05 percent from 107.20 to 106.07. Of the five provinces on the island of Java that carried out NTP calculations in July 2024, all provinces experienced an increase in NTP. The highest increase in NTP occurred in Banten Province reaching 3.08 percent, followed by East Java at 1.26 percent, West Java at 0.87 percent, Yogyakarta Special Region at 0.86 percent, and Central Java at 0.38 percent.
