Abstract

The current development paradigm is divided into economic development and human development. Economic development uses economic growth indicators from Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) as a measure of development achievement, while human development uses the Human Development Index (HDI) to measure the same thing. BPS calculates and presents bothThese indicators are complementary development indicators. The HDI calculation methodology continues to be refined according to the availability of indicators and the progress of modern science. Thus, HDI can be a reliable indicator of human development to measure the expansion of human choices. This publication not only contains the latest HDI figures, but also records changes in the calculation methodology, reviews of each dimension forming HDI, and gender development.
