Surabaya, September 30, 2024 – BPS East Java Province welcomed a study tour visit from SMA Muhammadiyah 10 Surabaya as part of the "School Goes to BPS" program. The visit was received directly by Satriyo Wibowo, Head of General Affairs of BPS East Java Province. The students who took part in the visit were grade 11 students, accompanied by Alfa Julian Bayu Putra and two other teachers.
During the visit, students were invited to tour various facilities at BPS East Java, starting with the Integrated Statistics Service (PST) room, which is the center for statistical information services for the public. In addition, students were also introduced to BPS's modern work system through the Flexible Working Space (FWS), which supports efficiency and creativity in work.
One of the highlights of this visit was the delivery of material on the basics of statistics, the importance of statistics in everyday life, and insight into the profession of statisticians. Students were invited to understand how statistics are used in various fields, such as economics, health, and education, as well as the importance of BPS's role in providing accurate data for policy making.
This activity is expected to broaden students' knowledge about the world of statistics and motivate them to better understand the importance of data in everyday life. The "School Goes to BPS" program is one form of BPS's contribution in building statistical awareness among the younger generation.
