Abstract

In September 2024, the level of inequality in East Java's population expenditure as measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.373. This figure increased by 0.001 points compared to the March 2024 Gini Ratio of 0.372.
The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.388, an increase of 0.001 points compared to the March 2024 Gini Ratio of 0.387.
The Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.332, an increase of 0.007 points compared to the March 2024 Gini Ratio of 0.325.
Based on the World Bank's inequality measure, the distribution of expenditure in the bottom 40 percent group was 18.94 percent. This means that population expenditure in September 2024 was in the low inequality category. If detailed by region, in urban areas the figure was recorded at 18.41 percent, which means it is included in the low inequality category. Meanwhile, for rural areas, the figure was recorded at 20.63 percent, which is also included in the low inequality category.
