Elderly Population Profile of Jawa Timur Province 2019

An increase in the number of aged people, known as the elderly, is an indication of development in the health sector. The increase in the elderly population goes hand in hand with the higher the population's expectations. From the 2020-2010 population projection, it is known that the elderly population in East Java in 2019 has reached 13.06 percent, which indicates that the population structure of East Java is classified as an elderly population. This of course brings consequences both in the form of potentials and challenges in development in East Java Province. The elderly population has a different socio-economic character than the young population, so that it requires special attention for policy makers so that the direction of development can also provide maximum benefits for the elderly population.This publication is published with the aim of providing an overview of the situation of the elderly population in East Java. The data presented in this publication includes the demographic conditions, education, health and economic activities of the elderly population in East Java in 2019. The main data sources used in the preparation of this publication are the results of the March 2019 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) and the Force Survey. National Work (Sakernas) August 2019.
