Abstract

The increase in the number of elderly people or known as the elderly is one indication of the success of development in the health sector. The elderly population goes hand in hand with an increase in the life expectancy of the population. From the results of the 2020 Population Census, it is known that the elderly population in East Java in 2020 has reached 13.10 percent which indicates that the population structure of East Java is classified as an elderly population. This of course brings consequences in the form of potential and challenges in development in East Java Province. The elderly population has a different socio-economic character compared to the young population, so it requires special attention for policy makers so that the direction of development can also provide the greatest benefit to the elderly population.This publication is published with the aim of providing an overview of the condition of the elderly population in East Java. The data presented in this publication includes the demographic, educational, health, and economic activities of the elderly population in East Java in 2020. The main data sources used in the development of this publication are the results of the March 2020 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) and the March 2020 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas).
