On Monday (20/01), BPS East Java Province warmly welcomed a visit from a group of students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang. A total of 96 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business accompanied by 6 supervising lecturers came to get to know more closely the strategic role of BPS in collecting, processing, and disseminating statistical data.
The event was opened with a speech by Satriyo Wibowo, Head of General Affairs of BPS East Java Province. He expressed his appreciation for this visit as an effort to increase students' insight into statistics and the important role of data in national development planning. The supervising lecturer, Dr. Dyah Nirmala Arum Janie, in her speech, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and valuable information provided by BPS East Java. She hopes that this visit can inspire students to better understand the importance of statistical data in supporting development.
The activity was continued with a presentation of material from the BPS East Java DHPS team explaining about searching for data through the BPS website, the superior innovation "Halo PST", and various types of micro data available at BPS. The students also had the opportunity to do an office tour in the PST room of BPS East Java. The interactive discussion was enthusiastic, with students asking about data processing, challenges in field surveys, and the application of technology in modern statistics.
The activity was closed with a group photo session at the BPS Lobby of East Java Province. This visit was a valuable momentum for students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang to get to know the world of statistics and the real role of BPS in national development.
