Profile of the Elderly Population of Jawa Timur Province 2025

The increasing number of elderly population is one of the indicators of development success, particularly in the health sector, as reflected by the rising life expectancy. Based on the Population Projection results, the proportion of elderly population in East Java Province in 2025 reached 15.40 percent, indicating that East Java has entered an ageing population structure. This condition brings both opportunities and challenges for regional development. Elderly people possess different socio-economic characteristics compared to younger populations, thus requiring special attention and adaptive policy measures to ensure that development benefits can be optimally distributed across all age groups, including the elderly. This publication aims to provide an overview of the condition of the elderly population in East Java in 2025, covering demographic, educational, health, and economic activity aspects. The main data sources used in this publication are the March 2025 National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas) and the August 2025 National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas).
